Center St. Mural

In the summer of 2012, muralist Craig Lee set out on a mission.  Take a brick wall in the neighborhood that had a decade old mural on it and reinvent it.

From Hanscom Park, head west on Center Street, go a few blocks, and as you pass through the business corridor you will see the mural.  This colorful piece of work fills the east side of the birck building owned by Petros Axiotes.

Notice the featured homes?  All are part of the fabric of our neighborhood.

Local artist, Craig Lee, spent weeks cleaning, prepping and sketching the scene on the exterior wall.  Day after day, in scorching heat, during one of the worst droughts on record, he persevered to create an uplifting scene.

The homes featured are in our neighborhood: the large yellow one is just south of the playground used by Our Lady of Lourdes students.  See if you can locate the others!

See the smiling dog?  That’s Georgia, Craig’s companion.  You can see them both walking the neighborhood almost daily.

Hanscom Park Neighborhood thanks Craig for his vision, dedication and thoughtfulness in the mural.  We appreciate him bringing back to life the wall and we know it is appreciated by all who visit the Hanscom Park area.

Omaha World Herald covered the mural on July 19, 2012
